If you are considering buying one of the many historic homes in Oregon, there is a lot to learn!
If you currently own (or are thinking of buying) a historical home in Portland, this is a great resource.
If you own a home or structure within Oregon City, you are eligible to apply for a Historic Preservation grant which is a program to support and maintain
historic buildings in Oregon City. The grant application can be found here. You can phase your construction project, as each grant award is limited to $1,000 per year but it will allow porch or roof repair, foundation repair, replacement of missing elements, wood storm window and window repair. If you are interested in this program and would rather speak to someone in person, you can call 503-722-3787.
You could also apply for grants at the state level here.
If you own a home and would like to pursue a historic designation, you are responsible for providing the research and documentation to allow a thorough evaluation of the historical, cultural or architectural significance, you can reference this guide, Researching Your Historic Property, to help find the information you need.
