I need an Energy Score: Selling in Portland, Oregon

Updated: May 5, 2022

The City of Portland Home Energy Score ordinance took effect on January 1, 2018. The Portland City Council unanimously adopted the policy (Portland City Code Chapter 17.108) in December 2016.

The City of Portland Home Energy Score website is can be located at www.pdxhes.com.

DETAILS: Home sellers in Portland, Oregon are required to obtain and disclose a Home Energy Report estimating the energy-related use, associated costs, and cost-effective solutions to improve the home's efficiency. If you list with me, I can help set this up for you: Done and Done!

WHY? This helps the buyer to know what they are REALLY buying and how efficient the home actually is. It is another step toward achieving the 2015 Climate Action Plan goal to reduce carbon emissions 80 percent by 2050. We must significantly accelerate energy efficiency and renewable energy activities in the residential sector because residential buildings contribute nearly half of the emissions from buildings.

If you want to sell your home and the report has already been done within the past five years, you can located that information here.
