Murals
by Kristina Browning
Murals transform blank walls into meaningful experiences. From boutique hotels to senior living communities, custom murals add identity, improve wayfinding, and create memorable environments that people connect with, photograph, and remember long after they leave.
Murals are powerful tools for placemaking. They bring color, character, and storytelling into a space—transforming ordinary walls into memorable landmarks that help define the identity of a property.
In boutique hotels, distinctive design is a competitive advantage. Research shows that over 75% of travelers say the design and atmosphere of a hotel influence their booking decisions, and visually unique spaces are far more likely to be photographed and shared online. Murals create those memorable moments—turning a wall into a destination within the destination.
In senior living communities, murals serve another important role. With over 60–70% of assisted living and nursing home residents living with some form of cognitive impairment, recognizable visual cues can significantly improve orientation and comfort. Distinctive artwork and color help residents navigate large buildings more easily, especially when hallways and common areas might otherwise look similar.
Beyond function, murals soften spaces that might feel institutional or routine. They create warmth, personality, and moments of delight, supporting well-being for residents while making communities and hospitality spaces more welcoming for guests, families, and visitors.
Memorable environments don’t happen by accident. I design them.
